I agree, Im in California and theres constant disconnects. I never had this problem with other isps and you can only blame so much on modems. screw time warner, heres from california backing u up. Theyre also one of the major players in taking away freedom of the internet. Dont forget that either, might as well be metallica when it comes to shutting down the internet.

Time Warner Austin is now resorting to extortion tactics.

I received a call two weeks ago from Larry Johnson with Time Warner Collections. Strange, because my account has always been paid on time and in over 8 years has never been late.

So what’s this call about? To inform me that my service will be cancelled if I don’t make good on several hundred dollars worth of charges because an individual I didn’t know, at an address I never lived at, on an account not in my name, concerning equipment I never had possesion or control of, was not shown to have been returned over a decade ago.

The reason they are now calling me ten years later? Because I married this person three years after she allegedly did not return equipment, and Larry knows she’s at my current address enjoying cable and internet on an account that is in my name only.

I explain that I didn’t even know this person when the alleged debt was incurred, and that we are currently separated, have been for almost a year, she doesn’t live at my current address, my service is in my name only and is current with no past due amounts.

Too bad, he says. You’re liable for your estranged wife’s debt that she incurred before you were married, and I can disconnect your service because I’m Time Warner Cable and I can do whatever I want.

You’ve got to be kidding me. I tell Larry Johnson, the over-zealous Time Warner collections agent on the phone, that it’s not my debt and to cease calling me about it.

The next Friday, a Time Warner contractor shows up at 8:30pm loudly announcing to the entire neighborhood that he is there to disconnect my service unless I pay him several hundred dollars. I explain the details to him, point out that my account is current and has always been paid on time, he agrees that doesn’t sound right, and calls Time Warner.

Almost an hour later he tells me he got the disconnect order cancelled, and even got me free Roadrunner Turbo and a free DVR coming in the mail for my trouble. How did you do that, I ask? “I told them I was you, and that I was terribly upset about the inconvenience” he said.

UPS delivers the DVR, which I do not want and did not ask for. I take it down to the Mopac service center, and ask to speak to a manager because this situation needs to be fully resolved immediately.

After speaking to three different individuals who agree that it doesn’t sound right but there is nothing they can do about it because Time Warner has some great software now that’s been able to go back and find where they think subscribers haven’t returned equipment or have past due charges from over a decade ago and link it to current accounts that they believe might be related and their collections department can apparently do whatever they want and utilize whatever tactics they desire because nobody is able to stop them, I’m totally disgusted and ask to open a ticket with Public Affairs, demand to meet with someone from collections, and want to know who the local franchise authority is for my current address.

They open a ticket, nobody from collections is available to speak to me (of course not, they are renegades within their own company), here’s who your local franchise authority is, and they give me a $60 credit to my account for my having to make a trip to return equipment I didn’t ask for, I didn’t want, and only received because a Time Warner contractor impersonated me over the phone.

And when I got home last night, my cable and internet were disconnected.

In Manhattan NYC Service still not back since 11PM last night and they are totally clueless as far as when the service will be back. Zero customer service. Are all companies this bad??

I am pissed… Time Warner… many of us have had long term accounts with your company… and you have continued to decline in service… and raised prices yearly.

Most recently… you pulled a fast one on all of us… sending out post cards declaring that we must now pay an additional 3.95/month charge for our Modems… or purchase one for 50-150 dollars…

We have all paid for your services for years… and the equipment is yours…. not ours… so if you do not have the money to service them… do not offer Internet as part of your service.

On top of that….. you offer new clients a charge of only 2.50 per month and give them the same services.

I am now …. after over 20 years….. sick and tired of you Time Warner… and will be moving on… it has been years of problems with modems…. and charges for your freaking converters, remotes, terrible phone service, unusable equipment that has to be replaced over and over… causing long down times in television cabel and internet services. It is really a disgrace how you do not answer your phones and circuits are loaded for days at a time.

Soooooo Long………Time Warner….. it has been real… a real pain in the a…..

Do not get started with them… it will break you. Changing today…. will stop the bleeding immediately.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO GET TW FOR BUSINESS, I HAVE A SURPRISE FOR YOU. YOU CANT ACCESS MODEM. YOU CANNOT DO 1to1 NAT. YOU HAVE TO BUY CISCO SWITCH TO DO 1to1 NAT OR USE PFSENSE. Comcast lets you use the modem for 1to1 nat as well as PPPOE VPN. BY THE WAY MODEMS ARE THE SAME BRAND. TW IS CONTROL FREAK LAZY COMPANY FILLED WITH CORPORATE GREED THAT WILL TAKE DOWN UNITED STATES IN THE LONG TERM.
